Airedale, Irish and Kerrys
|
The King of Terriers being the Airedale, followed by Irish Terrier, Kerry Blue, Russian, Soft-coated Wheaten terrier. Large Terriers tend to be medium sized dogs, but they are Terriers! and usually need gumption to manage. Each is fairly rare breeds now and has their own active breed rescues; why we rarely get them into our rescue. To find out Breed Rescue contact numbers, search on the internet. Most breed rescues are run by breeders who are there for their dogs, some may also be there for their own breed but will look for proof of pedigree and not take 'crosses. Some Breed Rescues will only take back 'their recognised breeder dogs i.e. home breed dogs aren't helped, and may end up in Rescue Centres or local papers.. or worse. They will expect 'Pedigree' prices for their dogs and rarely neuter in prep for rehoming. and if they don't have anything in may try to tempt you into buying an ex breeder or a puppy. Breed Rescues are more likely to give you a more honest view of the breed than the flowery descriptions breeder / promoters of that breed will give who "adore their breed and who couldn't" Often bred from kennelled stock who haven't had 'pet lives' and the danger is bred for show, rather than temperment. |
